Günther Jauch. He
is the perennial whiz kid of the European entertainment industry. He knows how to combine
humor with intelligence in order to keep TV audiences riveted to the screen.He
has created a new dimension in entertainment television. Today he is one of the most
important and popular hosts in German speaking TV: Günther Jauch started his journalistic
career in 1975 at the tender age of 19 as a journalist at RIAS Berlin Sportfunk. A year
later he headed south to the sports department of Bavarian Radio (BR). He quickly made a
name for himself with his quirky but informative reports from German sports resorts.
He made his first TV appearances in 1985 as a reporter for Puzzle Flight on
Bavarian television. He then became the host of the popular youth show Live from
Alabama which was actually in Bavaria. The ZDF (German TV Network) took
notice of him and made him host of two successful shows (So ein Zoff &
Na siehste). In 1990 he signed on with one of Germanys leading private
networks, RTL and became anchor of Stern TV, which quickly became the most
popular show of its kind (current affairs program) on German television. Eleven years
later it is still No.1.
