Sir PAUL McCartney.
With the Beatles, Wings and as a solo artist he has made music
history. He is the most commercially successful pop music composer of all time.
For almost 40 years, with the Beatles, Wings and as a solo artist he has created songs
that have left their mark in popular music. No other contemporary music artist has had
more worldwide success with his songs than Sir Paul McCartney.
His records have sold almost half a billion copies and his compositions have been
covered by hundreds of recording artists. Yesterday is still one of the most
requested and played songs on radio around the world. Its no wonder that the BBC
named him Composer of the Millennium. However, Sir Paul is more than an
exceptional music artist. He is admired for his exemplary character, his support of many
humanitarian causes, his contributions to charity and his overall patronage of the arts.

In many positive ways Mr. McCartney represents the best qualities of mankind in the
21st century. He has spoken out eloquently on, as well as openly supported, many important
initiatives including the banning of land-mines, cancer research and the importance of a
peaceful co-exis-tence. Following the terror attacks in the United States he released the
single Freedom with all proceeds going to the families of the policemen and
firemen who gave their lives to save others.
Recently Sir Paul has shown his abilities in other artistic fields, too. His first book of
poetry was greeted with critical acclaim in England, bus his great love is still music and
so he has been touring with his band through the U.S. in 2002. |
